Full Time position available for an Employee Occupational Health RN Consultant.

 

Position located at Inova Fair Oaks, a 180 bed hospital located in Western Fairfax County. 

The EOH Nurse Consultant oversees daily clinical, clerical, & administrative EOHS functions while ensuring institutional & departmental compliance with applicable professional, regulatory, & governmental standards. Oversees safety and risk management issues to include JCAHO, OSHA, CDC, VA workers comp, ADA, FMLA. Occupational and/or emergency nursing experience desirable.

 


PRN positions also available for Employee Occupational Health Nurse Consultant to supplement needs at each of INOVA's facilities.  PRNs must have the ability to work a full 8-hr day and able to travel to at least 2 of our locations.

 

Requirements for each position:

Hands on clinical experience, occupational or emergency nursing desired.

BSN required, MS desired.

VA RN license.

Specialty Certification desired.

Employee Safety Programs Coordinator
CIH, CSP, or Occupational Hygienist

Employee Safety Program Administrator CSP, CIH (job points below), this is a full time position that has oversight for the safety programs for the health system.

Description

Serves as the individual responsible for System-wide development and coordination of employee health safety programs.

Recognizes, evaluates and monitors environmental hazards that might impair the health of employees or the efficiency of work operations. Develops and recommends corrective actions to eliminate, control or reduce occupational health concerns.

Priority Initiative for Position: Serves as the program administrator responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Inova Health System Respirator Protection Program in accordance with the OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard.

Duties include:

Identifying work areas, processes, or tasks that require workers to wear personal protective equipment, and evaluates other hazards.

Annually updating the Inova Health System Respirator Protection Program and any other relavant policies to support the respiratory protection program

Identifying respiratory protection options

Monitoring respirator use to ensure that respirators are used in accordance with their NIOSH certifications

Arranging for and/or conducting training of new fit testers

Advising on proper storage and maintenance of respiratory protection equipment

Conducting and/or overseeing fit testing

Overseeing the medical surveillance program, as applicable

Collaborating with Management Team, managers and supervisors to ensure oversight of the program’s core competencies

Major areas of potential future responsibilities include:

Monitoring Inova’s work environments to assure the health and safety of workers

Identifying hazards in the workplace by performing a hazards analysis through bio-monitoring or by other appropriate means.

Establishing and promoting the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions, and recommending measures to reduce or eliminate accidents and health hazards in compliance with OSHA regulations

Developing, monitoring and evaluating occupationally related safety training programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations

Interacting with internal and external individuals and organizations to further Inova’s goals of appropriate employee health safety and response readiness

The Administrator shall report through Human Resources. The Administrator shall interact with all levels of personnel and shall be a member of various multidisciplinary teams to establish and maintain the safest possible environment through proactive programs stressing hazard identification, elimination or control and awareness.

Requirements

Experience in healthcare, industrial or related field with knowledge of personal protective equipment related to biological and chemical protection.

Two years experience required / five years experience preferred in occupational safety programs including respiratory, biologic, radiation, ergonomics and other occupational safety initiatives.

Experience in developing initial and ongoing training competencies.

Required knowledge of NFPA, NIOSH, OSHA, ANSI, and JCAHO.

Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Occupational Hygienist preferred.

Proficiency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

MS WORD, Power Point, and Excel computer and data entry skills required.

Must have the ability to effectively speak in front of large groups and deliver educational presentations.

The ability to multi-task and to lead and actively participate in multi-disciplinary work groups. The ability to develop, implement and deliver training programs.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in safety or related degree required (i.e. occupational health and safety, chemistry, environmental hygiene, physics, biological science).

Masters degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or clinical related field preferred.
