The National Institute of Standards and Technology has published a Guide to Protecting the Confidentiality of Personally Identified Information (PII). Available on the website, the plan recommends actions organizations should take to identify, minimize, grade, protect, and develop incident response plans for how to handle breaches of the PII they maintain.
