Result or Action

The evening began with

a dinner buffet from 6 to 7:00 PM was followed by a presentation in honor of Lucille Camarota, RN, MSN.

Lucille has been a member of MWAOHN since 1965 and worked in Occupational Health in DC for 40 years. She won a contest in 1967, 40 years ago, for choosing the best name for the chapter newsletter: the “REFLEX.” MWAOHN’s REFLEX newsletter won the AAOHN 2007 Chapter Communications Award.

Barbara Hayden accepted the 2007 AAOHN Communications Award on behalf of MWAOHN. The award, given at the AAOHN convention in Orlando, FL. in April ‘07, was a plaque and a $ 300 check. It recognizes MWAOHN for having the best newsletter in the USA! The plaque will remain in the home of our current Editor, Claudia Beach.

From 7:15 until 8:30 PM, members enjoyed a 1.0 CEU presentation on Lyme Disease.

Our speaker, Kitty Nalewaik, NP, MSN, COHN-S, gave a power point presentation on “Lyme Disease.”

1.0 CEUs were awarded to all participants. The topic was very well received

At 8:30 PM, a drawing for door prizes was held.

This was in order to allow our guests and non-voting attendees to leave before the annual business meeting

9 prizes were awarded

8:40 PM annual meeting began.

Roll call determined 15 active members were present, including 3 officers, one of whom was our President, so quorum was achieved. Agenda was adopted, rules agreed upon, minutes from the May 24, 2006 annual meeting read and accepted unanimously by the members. Reports from the following officers and committee chairs received:

  • Chapter President Virginia Rauer -Annual report.
  • Karen Vesterby, Treasury- Treasurer’s report and Professional Affairs Committee Chairman’s report.
  • Beverly Kozak, Chairman: Governmental Affairs Committee.
  • Ludie Gibson, Chairman: Membership Committee
  • Joe Ann Conrades, Chairman: Planning Committee.
  • Claudia Beach, Chairman: Public Affairs/Reflex Committee.
  • Linda Scotti, Chairman: Community Affairs and Chairman: Telephone Tree
  • Lillie Mitchell, Chairman: Nominating Committee
  • Chief Teller

Nominations Committee

Ballots were sent out and received, but the Chief teller, Lillie Mitchell, is not present to make her report.

The board Secretary, Barbara Hayden, and Chapter president, Ginny Rauer, promised the assembly that we would notify them of the election results when they were available. All agreed.

Bylaws were revised and reviewed favorably by AAOHN but the chapter needed to vote to accept them.

Bylaws had been distributed for review to the members 2 months prior to this meeting; additional copies were passed out for last minute review. A vote was called to accept the by-laws and this was passed unanimously.

Bylaws as amended in January 2007 were accepted unanimously.

New Business

It might be helpful to have our new bylaws made into a single booklet with NVAOHN and SVMAOHN bylaws. This would provide a handy reference.

Announcements

The planned dinner CEU topics for 2007 - 2008 session were announced, and suggestions taken for other topics. One of the suggestions was “How to recognize and intervene with employees who may be suffering domestic abuse.”

Adjournment at 9:00 PM

Respectfully submitted August 28, 2007, Barbara Hayden, Secretary, MWAOHN
