The
COHN/Safety Management Certification Review Course is offered for
certified occupational health nurses (COHNs and COHN-Ss) who work with
safety and desire the recognition of meeting a Board Certified Safety
Management credential. This American Board for Occupational Health
Nursing (ABOHN) credential was developed in collaboration with the
Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) and can be used as a
substitute for the ASP credential if going on to receive the Certified
Safety Professional (CSP) credential.
Bonnie
Rogers and UNC-CH staff provide an intensive review for Occupational
Health Nurses preparing for the American Board of Occupational Health
Nurses Certification exams (COHN and COHN-s). Nurses interested in a
comprehensive review of Occupational Health Nursing will also find this
course beneficial.
CAOHC Intial and Refresher Hearing Conservation Courses
Approved
by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation
(CAOHC), the course is designed to help participants perform valid
audiograms and develop hearing conservation programs according to OSHA
29 CFR 1910.95. Students who complete this 2 1/2 day course will be
eligible to apply to CAOHC for certification as an occupational hearing
conservationist.
This
week-long Institute offers a variety of health and safety courses that
are valuable to occupational and environmental health and safety
professionals and workers.
OHN Intro to Principles and Practice with Optional Respiratory Protection for Nurses
This
course will provide an overview of the principles and concepts of
occupational health nursing practice. Emphasis will be on the nurse's
role as a member of the occupational health team, development of an
occupational health service, prevention of injury and disease, health
promotion of adults, and protection of worker populations. The content
is designed for nurses who are new to occupational health nursing or
for those OHNs who have had a limited scope of practice, but desire to
expand that scope of environmental and occupational health nursing
practice. A great review!
The
course is presented to inform attendees of the latest developments in
safety and health trends and regulatory issues facing US employers and
will include a broad array of topics of interest. It is planned for all
managers, supervisors, and safety, health, medical and environmental
staff who are responsible for assisting management and employees in
establishing systems necessary for protection of people, property and
resources.
