Study Shows a Link Between Air Pollution Exposure and Development of Beta-Amyloid in Children and Young Adults
Scientists studying the effects of air pollution in children and young adults in Mexico City, have determined that "exposure to air pollution causes neuroinflammation, an alteredbrain innate immune response, and accumulation of Aβ42and -synuclein starting in childhood. Exposure to air pollutionshould be considered a risk factor for Alzheimer’s andParkinson’s diseases, and carriers of the APOE 4 allelecould have a higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s diseaseif they reside in a polluted environment."
