Kid's "Be Safe at Work" Poster Winners !

AAOHN is a Member of the Alliance with ASSE

The North American Occupational Safety and Health Alliance is comprised of safety and health organizations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and the Canadian Society of Safety Engineers recognized the student winners of the annual Kid's Safety Poster Contest at the U.S. Capitol on May 5, 2008. The theme for the 2008 Contest was "Safety is Good Business. Leading the celebration of the students' fabulous and inspiring artwork was the ASSE President, Michael W. Thompson, who described how effectively the students had made the point that safety and health of workers is good business. Adding to the festivities were Donald G. Shalhoub, Deputy Assistant Secretary of OSHA and the Secretary of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineers, Andrew E. Cooper both of whom thanked the student winners for their impressive work.

This year, for the first time, the Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration sponsored a special kid's poster contest about trucking safety.

First place winners this year were all girls.
