Kid's "Be Safe at Work" Poster Winners !
AAOHN is a Member of the Alliance with ASSE
The
North American Occupational Safety and Health Alliance is comprised of
safety and health organizations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The
American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and the Canadian Society of Safety
Engineers recognized the student winners of the annual Kid's Safety
Poster Contest at the U.S. Capitol on May 5, 2008. The theme for the
2008 Contest was "Safety is Good Business. Leading the celebration of
the students' fabulous and inspiring artwork was the ASSE President,
Michael W. Thompson, who described how effectively the students had
made the point that safety and health of workers is good business.
Adding to the festivities were Donald G. Shalhoub, Deputy Assistant
Secretary of OSHA and the Secretary of the Canadian Society of Safety
Engineers, Andrew E. Cooper both of whom thanked the student winners
for their impressive work.
This year, for the first time, the
Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration sponsored a special kid's poster contest about trucking
safety.
